Eligibility: Michigan League of Handweavers members and non-members are invited to submit up to three original entries in Fiber Art and/or Functional Fiber Art categories. No size restrictions. All submissions must be completed within the last two years. All works previously displayed at Michigan League of Handweavers Exhibits are ineligible.
Entry Fee:
MLH members: $25 per artist for up to 3 artwork entries.
Non-members: $25 AND MLH membership ($20/1 yr or $37/2 yr) per artist for up to 3 artwork entries.
Juror – Cathryn Amidei
Cathryn Amidei is a contemporary textile artist whose handwoven tapestries merge traditional craft with digital technology, creating complex and dimensional surfaces. She earned an MFA in Fibers from Eastern Michigan University, where she taught for 15 years, and has supported and taught weavers for over two decades with expertise in the TC-2 jacquard loom. Amidei is Director of the Digital Weaving Lab at Praxis Fiber Workshop in Cleveland, Ohio. Her practice explores themes of connection, motion, and interaction, often reflecting on natural spaces and the body as landscape. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is held in private collections.

The Michigan League of Handweavers 23rd Biennial Fiber Exhibit is a juried show showcasing our members’ exceptional pieces. The event is scheduled to take place at the Ann Arbor Art Center, located at 117 W. Liberty St. Ann Arbor, MI from September 11 to October 25,2026. Our juror is Cathryn Amidei.
As members of the 23rd Biennial Committee and the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild, we are reaching out to request your support through donations. These contributions will be utilized to fund awards for outstanding pieces in two categories: Fiber Art and Functional Fiber Art.
Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd places in each category, with Honorable Mention gift certificates presented as well. We kindly request your consideration in providing support in the form of cash or gift certificates.
All donors will be acknowledged in the exhibition program and will receive a list of exhibiting artists. Donations can be made in honor or memory of someone, or they may be attributed to an individual, organization, or business. Please note that the Michigan League of Handweavers is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and your contribution may be tax-deductible.
