Fiber Organization

The Weavers Circle is a cooperative that offers social, educational and volunteer opportunities to help weavers realize their potential and elevate the craft. We offer space in downtown Farmington where participants can congregate in a supportive and fun environment to weave together, learn from each other, and be inspired to pursue new creative directions. While we provide some equipment, participants are expected to provide their own loom and supplies. A limited number of rigid heddle and multi-harness looms are available for temporary use for a small, monthly fee. We provide access to a private Facebook page; a library of books, magazines, online databases and other resources owned; field trips to exhibits and venues that promote fiber arts; workshops; and referrals for formal instruction. We welcome weavers at all levels who can work independently. Weavers participate either as a dues-paying member or as a per diem drop-in.

I have been invested in fiber arts Ince a young age, thanks to a mother who was an amazing seamstress. I was inspired to take up weaving during trips throughout Central and South American countries where complex patterns are created on simple backstop looms. Working on both rigid heddle and multi-shaft looms, I enjoy exploring color and texture and my work continues to reflect the influences of my travels. I provide instruction on rigid heddle weaving at Michigan Fine Yarns in Livonia and at the Hawk Community Center in Farmington Hills. I am also a member of the Weavers Circle in Farmington where I pursue my own work and mentor other weavers.
