“Color in Deflected Doubleweave” with Natalie Drummond

Deflected Doubleweave is a fascinating weave structure that yields surprises particularly with  color, fiber, and finishing results. I’ll take you on my journey with mixing hand dyed yarns with 4  and 8 shaft drafts including how I design in the reed. Those wonky selvedges can be a  challenge! I’ll explore key tips on how to manipulate your shuttles as well as incorporating  design elements that can make your deflected doubleweave one-of-kind.

Natalie Drummond is an educator and fiber artisan living in Fremont, Indiana. Born and raised in Virginia, she developed a love of science teaching and fire. Her Fine Arts instruction in Craftsmanship and Design coursework followed in 2015 from Purdue University.

Natalie has pursued weaving. color, and ice dyeing with a passion. Natalie was awarded a MAFA Fellowship in 2019 and has been studying Deflected Doubleweave intensively including how to use in Woven Shibori.
